"Thought I locked that door," grumbled Kyle.
"Yeah, apparently not. Come on, give me a taste of the batter!" He pulled himself up onto the counter and swung over, dropping to the other side in complete and cheerful disregard to safety laws.
"Y-you can't be back here!" Kyle stuttered a little on the words, because damn, that was kind of hot. So was Troy, wearing nothing but a thin t-shirt and raggedy jeans. They showed his skin in spots, tantalizing glimpses of dark body hair and smooth, pale skin.
Troy was a rangy, handsome guy with a bouncy walk, a killer grin, and curly hair he couldn't seem to keep neat. He wiped his hands on his jeans and then clapped them together and rubbed. "'Cause something smells like citrus, and you know how I am about citrus."
Kyle rolled his eyes, trying not to blush. "Yeah. It's lemon cake. But I don't have time to—" He groaned. Troy had already stuck his finger into the mixer and snatched a taste. "Ass!" He slapped him away. "Now I'll have to start fresh!" He glared at Troy, really angry for once in his quiet and sober life. He crossed his arms, canting one hip a little. "You'd better have a damn good reason for doing that, because you just sentenced me to another couple of hours work and a bunch of wasted batter!"
"It's not wasted." Troy's gaze flickered with a surprising hint of heat. He took a step nearer and put his fingers, already licked partially clean, up to Kyle's mouth.
He pushed them inside.
The pop of citrus, sweetness, and cool, grainy batter hit him almost as hard as the taste of Troy's fingers.
They stared at one another in the kitchen, completely still and silent. The mixer cranked its monotonous beat. The rain drummed down overhead. And Troy stood there with his fingers in Kyle's mouth, looking at him....

The writing is fine and the two guys are likeable and there are sensual moments and two well-written sex scenes. I feel bad because I couldn't work up more excitement or feeling for this when clearly the story not only had the quick and spontaneous sex, but also the evening was supposed to mean something special or at least the start of something special. Another reader may find more enjoyment in all the elements that come together here.Product details

After reading SWEET SASHA also by Kess Martin this story was disappointing. This was a step down to me. It was just one long sex scene in the guise of a short story. I guess technically it's a friends to lovers short and if all you are interested in is a sex scene albeit "sweet" then you will be okay with this writing.
I'm glad I got this through my free preview of Unlimited so I did not waste even a little bit of money on it. Now don't get me wrong l like how this author writes, l just like more to a story than sex, two men, and cake batter.
I enjoyed the first short story l read by this author enough that I already have pre-ordered her longer book JOE'S RETURN and eagerly I'm awaiting the opportunity to read it, unfortunately it won't be released until November 1st.
Didn't like it. Too straight forward if you know what I mean...

Awww such a sweet story about two friends who quickly and hotly become so much more. Is a sweet short tale of love and so very well written it becomes a fav.
What this good story needs is a buildup, a sense of anticipation gained from knowing a bit of the characters' history together in advance. Minus that it just doesn't quite develop the momentum to be more effective in a romantic and sensual way. The characters deserve that. It's a nice little story, otherwise.
